YOUR ACCENT IS THE GIFT OF HIGHEST HONOUR...
This May, I am inviting you to explore those smaller patterns that we unknowingly collect through the everyday...the melodies, and harmonies of our voice.
I’M JUST HERE FOR THE MAY AUDIO - Gimme, Gimme!
APRIL - NO UNRAVELLING REQUIRED..
April slipped by in the blink of an eye - One minute I was knee-deep in the flow stream of edits, and the next, I was informed I had all but missed the bluebells! (Besides the ones in my garden.) The horror! So now that the sniffles have almost passed and the edits are behind us..
Let us turn our focus to MAY.
When I recorded this month’s audio, I believed it had started with a box of tea -Yorkshire Tea, of course, and then I realised that the conversation in the aisle of Morrisons had actually taken me back to a very small point I touch on in my upcoming book, In Devotion & Rebellion. I took this as a nudge to share alittle on this topic when it came back to editing that section.
Over the years, I began to wonder what would happen if we chose to look at our accents with less judgement and viewed them as a gift from the land - a gift from the places we were born, but also from the spaces where we have lived.
We all have them, and yet we often choose to admire foreign accents for their flow and sexy tone and often in the UK we judge our own voices, while trying to encourage our children to pronounce words in certain ways - or, as adults, we find ourselves adjusting our tone for certain people. Perhaps you have a telephone voice. I know I do.
This month, we explore the idea of accents. It’s a super quick audio, as I really should be packing for our adventures up north. I won’t be online for a few days, but I’ll return with updates, I promise. You know it’s always deeply magickal when Ceryn and I go on our annual pilgrimage. Last year she came here and we caused some mischief at Tintagel; this year I am heading north.
Anyway, enough from me. Here is the audio, and the question for this month is:
ARE YOU TRULY HONOURING YOUR VOICE AND YOUR GIFT OF AN ACCENT IN ALL THE WAYS?
SEE YOU NEXT MONTH! OCEANS OF LOVE
Oh my gods how I wish 15 year old me had had this message! Thank you xx
