WHAT MAKES PROJECT EARTHWORK DIFFERENT?
The journey we had to take to get to our triangle of truth, indvidully and collectively.
What makes us different - and why it works
Have you ever stood in a room full of ‘spiritual’ people, shared how you see things or how you work with a certain realm of energy… and been met with blank stares? Frowns? Or worse- a look of concern!? It’s happened to me more times than I can count, and I suspect it’ll keep happening as I continue to share the inner workings of my mind.
Project Earthwork has gone through many evolutions since we began during the lockdowns of 2020. What started as Zoom catch-ups and goal-sharing turned into rituals and land activations, eventually becoming what you now know as Project Earthwork today.
If I rewind a little, we began as a group of three. We got excited, wanted to share, and started extending our branches, inviting others in. If you’ve been around long enough, you might remember those times: potent with magick, full of learning, and let’s be honest, full of triggers too.
Eventually, through a natural evolution, we returned to the original three, the same triangle that sat on that very first Zoom call. Funny how the universe will take you on a journey just to bring you back to a deeper understanding of the ones you’re meant to not only work with but also walk beside.
Now, I can only speak from my corner of the triangle - keep that in mind as we begin fully landing here in this Substack space individually. While we each make up a third of Project Earthwork, we rarely speak for each other. And why is that? Because here, we all do things very differently.
Over these five years, I’ve noticed how distinct our ways are- how we open a circle, how we close, how we channel, how we approach the unseen. Some of us have been doing this since childhood, while others only discovered we could do this in adulthood. Some of us love a trial-and-error approach, others not so much.
Each of us has walked a different path (and still does), picking up different tools, skills, and methods along the way. But somehow, those paths always collide at this nodal point- that is, Project Earthwork.
I started noticing how differently we work when I began working one-on-one with the land, sometimes with Ceryn, sometimes with Yolandi. Up until then, one of us would come forward with something they needed support with, and they’d usually lead. We each have our own rhythm, our own rituals. Yet when we do come together on a mission or project, we often find that, somehow, each of us has been holding a missing piece of the puzzle - pieces that only come together when we're all tuned in.
We know that each of us sees the world through our own lenses, shaped by personal experiences. We’ve explored how we each function through Human Design, how we communicate, how we share- or don’t. We know each other well enough now to call out each other’s bullshit, or to step aside and let someone run with something that feels like a full-body YES to them- without judgment, concern or the need to follow.
I won’t pretend it’s always been smooth. These years have brought a river of tears and a lot of journaling (mostly me - I’ll own that). At one point, it nearly broke us. But we held on, knowing there was a reason we were brought together. In the beginning, I struggled to see myself as an equal. Honestly, it wasn’t until I was editing the final draft of my book that I realised I’d been weaving my way to this path all along- ever since I sat under the willow tree at school, built a pretend twig campfire, and told stories to the land and my invisible friends.
I recently heard Seren Bertrand say something that stuck with me: we’re not here to create an industry, because we are not industrial beings. (I’m paraphrasing - but the root of her message landed deeply enough to share here.) Project Earthwork was never meant to slot into the spiritualist industry. At least for me (again, I can't speak for the others), but for me, it was never meant to fit because I’d rather knock something down than fit inside it.
How do we begin in an industry that was never built for individual pathways of power? By acknowledging that the way each of us roots into this life and land is deeply individual. Your path might not look like mine, but you might find a little nod, a familiar echo, or a missing piece of your own puzzle in what we share.
Industries tell us there's only one way. Project Earthwork says otherwise. There are always new ways, and more to come as the wheel keeps turning.
I think it’s also important to remember that this is going to continue to rise to the surface. Most recently, I was gripped by a familiar fear: what if the people coming to our Glastonbury workshop aren’t working with the realms I work with? What if they don’t even want to? How would I make what I do feel accessible to them? That’s when Ceryn reminded me: Everyone’s coming for their own reason. Maybe it’s something Yolandi offers. Maybe they don’t even know yet why they’re drawn in.
Just like working with land and spirit, this is a journey of trust. And it’s that trust in ourselves, in each other, and in our connection that makes us different. I needed to trust again that anyone joining us will find their way and their own path of truth. Truth is a never-ending evolution of self, right?
And that’s why Project Earthwork works.
Because in a world that’s constantly trying to funnel us into sameness, we chose to root deeper into difference. To honour the unique thread each of us carries, while recognising the power of what happens when those threads are woven together.
We trust each other enough to know that no one thread has to lead all the time. That is when we each honour our own weaving and respect the weaving of another. By holding this at the forefront of our hearts, I hope we can all move closer to a future that’s quantum, collaborative, and deeply rooted in truth.
We will be using this as our pinboard of sorts this year, dropping in as and when. I think that’s all I have to share for now. Oh and if you feel the call to join us in July in Glastonbury. I’ll drop the magickal portal of a button below.
Oceans of Love Charlie x
Thank you, Charlie. I love the honesty of what you’ve shared (as always!) and am really looking forward to July. I’m nervous too, but trusting the pull to be in the Project Earthwork orbit. I know it’ll root me through yet another house move happening at around the same time… to the house next door! The land is chuckling with its own knowing here, methinks. 😊
