Where do we begin this month.. the beginning? The middle? I'm not sure I can even get close to the end of this one, so I think it is probably best we simply start where we are at. .
You see each month I have to keep alot of notes or my mind palace gets too messy and well, it stops being fun. Then when the time is right I sift through them, some go for edit, others need more time to marinate and there are definitely a few rants that get deleted.
Let's just say if I wrote it day three of my bleed then you know its going to be alittle salty and it's not for public use. It's very much for personal growth.
So this month I was going through all of my thoughts and where I can pull all the threads together over a single theme.. Well this month it was the word 'POWER'.
Now however you received that word I want you to pause and sit with it. How did it feel? What came to mind? Was it the power of others? The people? Men? Women? Barbie?
So if you didn't catch my blog on Barbie it's HERE
I never in my Wildest dreams thought I would have so much to say about a movie, let alone a plastic toy! Turns out I couldn't get it into a social media post, so I clearly had ALOT to say and I am very much torn about it.
I'll drop the link again here if you want to explore it with me Barbie Blog
Otherwise let's Deepdive on this months theme
We have been made to think of power as a bad thing, because the many wordly examples show us it's misuse. We see it in movies, on the news, in business & even the 'spiritual' community. We have seen how people fight for power and we have seen power being taken from women many many times.
So as I sat with my power this week I could feel it burning. Burning deeply in my stomach. So much so it reminded me of the scar I have on my stomach from a firework incident where spirit so kindly responded to my call for help.
I was reminded that I am not just the power of a single soul, I hold the power of the elements within, I am the earth, the stars and all of the cosmos combined in one body. (As are you I might add ). Each of us holds a power just waiting to be awakened.
The more I considered this the stronger the calling became to release this power within me. To stop diluting it, or hiding it under a false idea of what it is to be ‘humble’ or worse ‘likeable’.
So here we are.. working with our power it seems. This month as we journey with the elements I wonder what can remember and learn from them? I guess we should open up and find out.
Welcome to the September letter from the land - Let’s explore some of the ways the elements are connecting with us this month.
The Naming of September - (Because it feels good to say them out loud and hail the new month!)
Gwynngala (Cornish)
Medi (Welsh)
Mean-fouyir (Manx)
Mean Fomhair (Irish Gaelic)
Septmber (Scots/Ulster-Scots)
Sultain (Scot Gaelic)
September here is one of my favourite times. The stillness of the beaches, the violet belly bettles running across the forest floor to the shade and the cooler evenings. It all brings a quiet crispness that I love. What does September bring to you that you love? Is there less rushing about? Maybe its that feeling that autumn being just around the corner.
Let’s start the month from the land we stand upon shall we?
“You have chaos your soul and lightning in your veins, You my dear were made for wild, magical things” - Erin Matlock
As I was sat outside of my tent last weekend sourrounded by my favourite love bugs we watched a deer on the other side of the lake. It seemed to be using the very large hay bails and sunset as its friends, an almost security buffer between the hedge and the outside human destruction of the world. This glimmer was the prompt for this months earth element.
Did you know that Autumn is the begining of the season deer watching? This is because September marks the beginning of the rutting season. (Sept-Nov) Although the weather has been known to effect the timing over the years. (Mild wet conditions delay it, whilst cool and dry conditions advance it. What is rutting I hear you ask?
Rutting is basically the annual period of time for breeding of deer. (There is no elequent way to put it, this was my fourth attempt). Each breed of deer does this slightly differently. (No impressions of calls will be included in this email, sorry to disapoint). During this time competing males will engage in a series of behaviors aimed at showing off to the hinds. (female deer). Rutting is most intense soon after dawn and before dusk. This is considered one of the most important contests of their lives. The fight starts vocally , and if that is not enough to ward off a competitor, then rivals will walk paralell before locking antlers. Welcome to the rut of a red deer.
I can’t help but wonder what the hinds think of this display? A show of strength that they need for survival of their future family perhaps.
The same signs of Septembers arrival came as we had to scoop up a shrew into a bowl an remove him to a nearby hedge before he became trapped under the tent. Here what the mammals are up to this month.
Squirrels and mice will be busy preparing for the coming winter, So keep your eyes peeled for the hoarding hibranators as they scurry back and forth in preperation.
Pine Martens, stoats and weasels are likely more easily to spot this time of month du to the summer foliage beginnig to resead.
If you are lucky you may see a hungry badger or hedgehogd around dusk as they usually venture our slightly earlier this time of year.
The crisp evenings are my favourite time for a walk. There is something magical about the liminal space between the daylight hours and night when the land sings its song on the cusp of autumn.
And now… hail to the water…
“You tuck it behind youe ear like it’s nothing But there’s rainwater on your hair from the storms you conquered” - Mandy D. Chew
When exploring the element of water this month I was given a few options to share from the waterways & aquastats beneath our feet to the lost laungage and wisdom of the water. But when I came to start it did feel alittle as if I was dropping you in at the deep end. But then I had an influx of people contacting me about a craving for the water. As if they needed the cleansing reset of the ocean of the activation of a cold water swim.
You see water is living memory. It carries a freqnency and a launguge of its own across and under this expansice planet. It is ancient and newness combined.
So this month a little challenge as it may. I want each of us to find your nearest sacred water. Now I’ll give you some further info that has been swimming about in my brain and some ideas of what to look for below. but as always this doesn’t have to be hard. Google might help you, or the local library. Once you find your nearest why don’t you take a visit?
Firstly look for sacred wells and natural springs. Then if you wish you can move onto natural lakes, streams, coasts lines and rock pools; they all count in their own way. I love to sit on the rocks with my toes in the rockpools just as much as I dream of the bubbling sound of the stream at our local woods. All water soothes me in different ways.
Did you knoe there are more than 40,000 lakes and almost 1500 dicrete river systemsin the UK. Thats an immense amount of water energy to be explored.
So this month let us allow the waters to call us back to those lifetimes of sirens, well maidens, water carriers and Atlandian Guardians. Let the water call us back and if you do go on an adventure and find an acent well or a rock pool so inviting that you must dip your toes in then please feel to tag me across all platforms (@charlieedwards.me) because I simly love to see your corners of the land.
Now we welcome fire…

Charlie’s Camping Cookies:- For a few years now I have made camping cookies. Infact they are my sons favourite and camping without them, well it just wouldn’t be camping. Now be warned the sugar content in theses is immence so if that is not your thing, feel free to scroll past to this months lady of the air channeling. Otherwise buckle in..Here are the ingrediants. (I hate it with recipes when you habe to scroll forever to find it, so we won’t be doing that here.
1 cup salted butter* softened
▢1 cup white (granulated) sugar
▢1 cup light brown sugar packed
▢2 tsp pure vanilla extract
▢2 large eggs
▢3 cups all-purpose flour
▢1 tsp baking soda
▢½ tsp baking powder
▢1 tsp sea salt***
▢2 cups chocolate chips (or chunks, or chopped chocolate)
Preheat your oven at 190 degreed C.
- Method. Mix all the wet ingrediants in one bowl and all the dry in another. Then combine the two. (You might want to use your hands for this one, but it can get messy.)
How you devide these up is your call. We like ours large, so I do ours about a teaspoon scoop per cookie.
Bake at 190 degrees C for 8-10 minutes. I like to set my timer at eight minutes and then watch them. They will not look fully cooked (this is the trick for a cookie that it soft on the inside but still has a slight runch on the outside.) You want them slightly golden brown on the top.
Leave them to cool and seal in a air tight container. they Could last around eight weeks, however in our household they are gone within 48 hours.
Oh and you can deffo batch make these and freeze them if you want, just let them thaw for thirty minutes before you pop them in the oven.
“ Unexpected change can be like fresh air a little brisk at first, but magic for the body and soul” - Susan Wiggs
Remember at the beginning I said things were going get weird. Well it’s starting a little sooner than I expected. This month when I sat with the element of air a lady stepped through I grabbed my phone and quickly clicked record. Here is that message below.
This months Channeling - Lady of the Wind
You see I am seated upon the 44th seat of Elemental Council. I have been aware of these great meeting halls for years, but if I am honestI have rearly spoken of them. I believe we are opening the door to sharing more of this in the future.
Let’s close this gorgeous circle with the echo of the wind words in our hearts.
Closing the cricle..
This month’s Spotify mixtape is a real eclectic cauldron of genres, vibes and beats. Skip the ones you don’t like and absorb the ones you love from my heart to yours! You can listen to one each day or binge them like a netflix series. They are all randomly found and I ask spirit which month we are placing them in. So I’m really listening to them along with you all.
Until next month friends I now close this circle & Send you Oceans of Love
